Varanasi, July 1: Schools have opened in UP today after 40 days. After summer vacation, students reached school at 7 am on the first day laughing and playing. On the first day, schools were decorated with flowers, leaves, rangoli, flags and balloons. School teachers were standing at the gate to welcome them.
In Lucknow, teachers showered flowers on the children after applying tilak on their foreheads. They were given chocolates and balloons as gifts. The same was seen in Bulandshahr. In Gonda, teachers cut cake with the children and fed them.
The children who reached the school in Kashi touched the threshold of the school and bowed down. They went to the prayer room and worshipped Maa Saraswati, then went to the classroom. In Varanasi, a father reached the school carrying his child in his lap. When the child started crying, the father said, “There are other children here, play and study here.”
There are currently 1.54 lakh council schools in UP. There are 1.58 crore students in these schools. The number of teachers is more than 5 lakh. Primary schools were closed from 20 May to 15 June. Due to the heat, the government had extended the children’s holidays till 30 June.
