Shimla, July 15: There is no hope of relief from rain in Himachal Pradesh for the next 5 days. Heavy rain is forecast in 3 districts of the state today (Tuesday). The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Solan, Shimla and Sirmaur districts today. Heavy rain may occur at some places in these districts.
At the same time, yellow alert has been issued for heavy rains at one or two places in Una, Bilaspur, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi districts. During the last 24 hours, Jubbarhatti in Shimla received the maximum rainfall of 54 mm, Dharamshala 16 mm and Shimla 7 mm.
The Meteorological Department has also issued a yellow alert for heavy rain at one or two places in Una, Chamba, Kangra, Mandi and Shimla districts tomorrow i.e. Wednesday. A yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued for Una, Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi and Sirmaur districts on July 17 and for Chamba, Kangra and Kullu districts on July 18.
Property worth Rs 787 crore destroyed
Due to heavy rains and cloudbursts in this monsoon season (20 June to 14 July) in the state, government and private property worth Rs 787 crore has been destroyed. Similarly, 105 people have lost their lives. Out of these, 24 people have lost their lives due to landslides, floods and cloudbursts, while 34 people are missing. 44 people have lost their lives in road accidents.
19% more rain in monsoon season
So far in this monsoon season, it has rained 19 percent more than normal. Between 1st June and 14th July, the normal rainfall is 203 mm, but this time it has rained 242 mm. Mandi district has received 91 percent more rainfall than normal. During this period, the normal rainfall is 325.1 mm, but this time it rained 621.4 mm.
Shimla receives 77% more rain than normal
Shimla has also received 77 percent more rain than normal. This time 351.6 mm of rain has fallen in Shimla as compared to the normal rain of 198.2 mm. Kinnaur and Lahaul Spiti are the two districts where the rain has been less than normal. All other districts have received more than normal rain.
23% less rain than normal in a week
If we talk about the last one week, the people of the state have heaved a sigh of relief from heavy rains. Normal rainfall between 7th and 14th July is 58.5 mm, but this time 45 mm of rain has fallen, which is 23 percent less than normal. During this period, Mandi has received 121.7 mm of rain, which is 38 percent more than normal, i.e. 88.3 mm rain.
