All about your constituency: Stakes high for Congress, SAD as Khadoor Sahib braces for four-cornered battle

Khadoor Sahib as Lok Sabha constituency had undergone polling three times, with SAD clinching the title two times and Congress once.

Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha Constituency is one of the 13 constituencies of Punjab. Following the delamination of parliamentary and assembly constituencies, Khadoor Sahib came into existence in 2008. It is part of the Tarn Taran district and comprises a total of nine assembly seats. Historically Khadoor Sahib is of great prominence as it has been sanctified by visits from eight out of ten Sikh Gurus.

Khadoor Sahib as Lok Sabha constituency had undergone polling three times, with SAD clinching the title two times and Congress once.

So far for the 2024 elections, the ruling state government Aam Aadmi Party has announced cabinet minister Laljit Singh Bhullar’s name as its candidate.

Evading the risk posed with new face, it is expected that congress can give ticket to its incumbent MP Jasbir Singh Gill Dimpa. Though there is no official announcement on seats by Akali Dal but reportedly Bikram Singh Majithia, brother of Harsimrat Kaur Badal is said to be the frontrunner for Khadoor Sahib seat. Giving ticket to Majithia will not be an easy decision as the move will label SAD as a promoter of dynasty politics. After Majithia, the name of another fierce leader Virsa Singh Valtoha is also under consideration.

As far as the BJP is concerned, who is going solo in Punjab for the first time on all 13 seats, the party can consider Mandeep Singh Manna for the seat.
