Dial “1077” for Forests fire

About 27.73 percent of the state's land area is forest area.

Himachal Pradesh: If smoke is seen in the forest anywhere in Himachal, information can be shared on the toll free number. For this the Forest Department has issued two numbers. Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena has called for immediate information on both the numbers. He urged that if there is information about smoke or fire in the forest, then inform the nearest forest department office or emergency services toll-free numbers – 1077 and 1070. Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena was presiding over the review meeting of the measures being taken to protect forests from fire.

There are pine forests in an area of 2759.62 km. Pine trees are very sensitive to fire incidents. A large area has been affected by fire incidents in the forest area of the state during the year 2023-24. Forest is an invaluable asset and it is our duty to protect it. He called upon the people to give information to the Himachal Pradesh Forest Department and law enforcement agencies about anti-social elements setting fire to the forest illegally. The Chief Secretary said that many ambitious measures have been taken to protect forests from fire.

Multi utility vehicles, blowbags etc. have been provided to the department and monitoring work is being done with the help of drones in sensitive areas. Volunteers and members of NGOs have been registered in the state. On this occasion, State Nodal Officer Nishant Mandhotra gave a detailed presentation. Director General of Police Dr. Atul Verma, PCCF (Half) Rajeev Kumar, ADGP and Director Fire Services Rakesh Aggarwal, Director Rural Development Raghav Sharma, Special Secretary DC Rana and Director Information and Public Relations Rajeev Kumar were present in the meeting.
