Chandigarh: The licenses of two companies in Punjab, Madhya Bharat Agro Products Limited and Krishna Fosham Private Limited, have been cancelled. As part of the campaign launched to ensure high-quality agricultural products and equipment for farmers, the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department of Punjab has taken action against the companies supplying substandard DAP fertilizers to the cooperative societies of the state.
Director of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Jaswant Singh, said that under the Quality Control Campaign, so far, 1004 samples of fertilizers have been taken and sent to various laboratories for testing. The director said that. As per the set targets, along with taking samples of fertilizers in the district, the arrival of DAP (18:46) and other fertilizers is also being constantly monitored.
Minister Khuddian has instructed all the Chief District Agriculture Officers that if they receive any complaint regarding non-standard or fake fertilizer or any other agricultural product, they should take the necessary action on a priority basis. He warned that negligence at any level in this regard would not be tolerated.
Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian said that supplies have been taken by these companies to Markfed. He informed me that, as per the Fertilizer Control Order of 1985, 24 of these samples are non-standard, and the report of two samples is yet to come. He said that the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has also been ‘informed’ of appropriate action in this regard.
Gurmeet Singh Khuddian informed us that the Agriculture Department has launched a quality control campaign across the state, and a target has been set to test 4700 fertilizer samples during the financial year 2024–25. The Agriculture Minister asked the Director of the Department to review the supply of agricultural materials so that the supply of standard products to farmers can be ensured.
