Ahead of 16th Finance Commission visit to Punjab, CM Mann to chair high-level meeting today

The team of the 16th Finance Commission is coming to Punjab on 22 and 23 July

Punjab should get good funds from the central government in the coming time, and the projects going on in the state should gain momentum. The Punjab government has started working on a complete strategy for this.

The team of the 16th Finance Commission is coming to Punjab on 22 and 23 July. A high-level meeting is going to be held today to give a presentation in front of this team. CM Bhagwant Mann, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, and many other officials will be present in the meeting.

The commission’s visit to Punjab is considered very important, because the issue of reduction in Punjab’s sources in the past will also be raised in the meeting with the commission.

With the implementation of GST, all sources of income have gone to the Center. This is also causing losses to the government. There is no such sector from which the government can earn income. Such issues will be raised in front of the commission.

Apart from this, Rs 6700 crore of RDF, Rs 650 crore of National Health Mission Fund, Rs 1600 crore of special capital assistance and Rs 515.55 crore of PM Shri Yojana are included. However, during the tenure of Captain Amarinder Singh government, Rs 2500 crore was received from the 15th Finance Commission.

The Central Finance Commission is considered to be the most powerful and influential commission of the country. Apart from how much budget the state is to get from the center, the commission determines everything from the distribution of taxes between the center and the states.
