Engineer surrenders in Punjab industrial plant scam

He was absconding for 4 months; the court sent him on a three-day remand. 

Chandigarh: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Punjab Small Industries and Corporation (PSEIC) Sub Divisional Engineer Savatej today (Tuesday) in the industrial plot allotment scam. However, the accused had first reached Mohali court directly, where he surrendered. During this, Vigilance obtained a three-day remand of the accused. At the same time, Vigilance is expecting many revelations in the interrogation of the accused.

A case related to this scam was registered by the Vigilance Bureau on March 8. This case was registered by the Flying Squad of Vigilance Bureau Mohali. A case was registered against the accused under sections 409, 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 120-B, and 13 (2), including 13 (1) A. The accused was absconding for four months. Vigilance teams were looking for him for a long time. But the accused was successful in escaping from the vigilance every time.

Vigilance investigation has revealed that the accused officer had created a fake firm named M/s Gurtej Industries in the name of Gurtej Singh using fake documents. After that, he transferred money from the accounts of his son Manroop Singh and relatives to PSIEC and transferred it in the name of the said firm to Plot No. A 394 Industrial Focal Point Amritsar.
