While getting the procurement started, Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal stated that all requisite arrangements have already been put in place in the mandis as well as availability of sufficient gunny bags for this season.

Urging the farmers to bring paddy as per the specifications within the set moisture limit, Deputy Commissioner mentioned that the district administration is fully geared up to seamless procurement. He also spoke with the farmers in the mandis and apprised them about the arrangements in the mandis for this season. He mentioned that every single grain of paddy will be procured, and directions have been issued to procure the grains as soon as the farmers arrive at the grain markets.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that the district administration is expected to procure around 18 lakh MT paddy from grain markets in this procurement season. He also appealed to the farmers to refrain from burning paddy straw, which causes major environmental hazards. He pointed out that there are 146 purchase centers that have been established besides ensuring all facilities including availability of potable water, lights at yards, gunny bags, cleanliness and others.

Jorwal also highlighted that all the Sub Divisional Magistrates and chiefs of all procurement agencies have been asked to personally supervise the paddy procurement operations.
