In the 1,731 unauthorized colonies of the capital Delhi, there will no longer be a need for any kind of NOC (No Objection Certificate) to install electricity meters. Previously, obtaining an NOC from the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) was mandatory for installing electricity meters in these colonies. However, people have now been freed from this issue, and residents of unauthorized colonies will be able to get electricity connections without any NOC.
Delhi’s Chief Minister Atishi announced this in a press conference, stating, “The DDA had imposed a condition on the residents of unauthorized colonies to provide an NOC confirming that their house or colony is not built on pooled land. In response to this, the Delhi government has decided that residents in these 1,731 unauthorized colonies will no longer require an NOC.”
Atishi mentioned that generally, it takes about 15 days to get an electricity connection, and the same time frame will apply to the DISCOM (Distribution Companies).
In recent years, the electricity department had been demanding an NOC from the DDA for installing meters on any house in Delhi’s unauthorized colonies. People were unable to fulfill this demand, which had prevented the installation of meters in their homes.
