Jalandhar: Shiromani Akali Dal will protest in Jalandhar today. The protest will start outside the DC office. This announcement was made by the Akali Dal a few days ago regarding the ongoing dispute with the government regarding paddy management. Akali Dal will launch this protest at 11 am after which, under the chairmanship of senior SAD leaders, a memorandum of demands will be submitted to Jalandhar DC Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal. Shiromani Akali Dal had announced a protest across the state on November 5, i.e. today, regarding paddy procurement and shortage of DAP fertilizer in Punjab. Shiromani Akali Dal working president Balwinder Singh Bhundar had ordered all the party workers to protest against the government on November 5. Bhundar had said that an attempt would be made to wake the government from its sleep.
Due to the non-purchase of paddy in Punjab, a big crisis has arisen for the farmers of the entire Punjab. Farmers across Punjab are sitting in the mandis for 15-20 days continuously to sell their produce, but neither the purchase is happening nor the lifting arrangements are being made properly.
