Jalandhar : Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today said that the district administration was giving top priority to the lifting of paddy crops in grain markets with lifting of as many as 32,629 MT crops in a single day.
While reviewing the paddy procurement arrangements, the DC said that so far a total of 269520 MT crop has been lifted by the procurement agencies. He mentioned the administration is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the smooth completion of the paddy procurement process in the district. He stated that the Punjab government is coPantinuously reviewing the arrangements to ensure seamless procurement in the mandis (markets), timely payments, and lifting as per the guidelines issued.
Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal informed that so far, a payment of ₹1471 crore has been ensured for the paddy procured from farmers. He also mentioned that rapid lifting of paddy is being ensured across all grain markets in the district. He emphasized that the lifting process will be further accelerated in the coming days, for which instructions have already been issued to the officials.
The Deputy Commissioner made it clear to the officials that any delay in the procurement process will not be tolerated, and strict action will be taken against those who are negligent. He instructed that paddy lifting should be carried out in an organized and efficient manner in the district’s mandis to ensure that farmers do not face any difficulties.
Dr. Aggarwal reiterated the Punjab government’s commitment to purchase every grain of the farmers’ crops and reiterated his commitment for the smooth implementation of procurement arrangements.
Notably, procurement agencies have purchased 6,71,805 MT paddy crop out of 6,77,485 MT crop that arrived in the Mandis to date.
