AAP sarpanch attacked by drug smugglers in Amritsar; shots fired, village in panic

Amritsar, August 23: In Rana Kala village near Jandiala Guru in Amritsar, Punjab, drug smugglers opened fire on the Aam Aadmi Party sarpanch on Friday evening. The attackers also attacked the Aam Aadmi Party Panchayat member and his companions with sharp weapons. After the incident, there was an atmosphere of panic in the village.

The Panchayat member alleged that some people in the village have been selling drugs for a long time. When he opposed this and warned the drug peddlers to stop this illegal work, they got angry and reached the village with some hooligans. After this, they attacked the Panchayat member and his companions with axes and swords.

A bullet grazed the shoulder

During the attack, the youths accompanying the smugglers also opened fire. A bullet grazed Sajan Singh’s shoulder, saving his life. There was panic among the villagers and people started running here and there to save their lives.

Police brought the situation under control

As soon as the incident was reported, Jandiala Guru police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Police officials said that the statements of the victim side have been recorded and an FIR is being registered on their basis. Officials say that the attackers have been identified and they will be arrested soon.
