JPSC Paper Leak: Abhay Tiwari’s Wife, Brother Arrested by CID in Exam Fraud Case

Ranchi: The CID on Tuesday arrested the wife and brother of alleged JPSC paper leak mastermind Abhay Tiwari in connection with an examination fraud case.

Both are accused of allegedly securing success through fraudulent means in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) examinations.

Abhay Tiwari is already in jail in connection with the case. A CID team visited Giridih earlier on Tuesday and questioned both his wife and brother before arresting them and bringing them to Ranchi.

JSSC Secretary Questioned

The CID is also questioning JSSC Secretary Sudhir Gupta in connection with alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations.

Gupta was questioned for several hours based on evidence collected during a raid at the JSSC office on Monday.

Tiwari’s brother, Akshay Tiwari, is already a government employee and had cleared the Preliminary Test of the 14th JPSC examination. His wife, who is working as an Assistant Section Officer (ASO), has also been arrested.

Abhay Tiwari Cleared Multiple Exams

Abhay Tiwari, who was posted as a Block Supply Officer in Poriyahat, Godda district, was arrested by the CID on July 22.

According to officials, the investigation found that Tiwari had qualified in around 12 competitive examinations over 13 years.

These included the 2018 Police Sub-Inspector examination, 2013 Navy SAR examination, 2014 BARC Assistant examination, IRB Constable examination, 2018 CRPF Head Constable examination and 2014 Northern Coalfields examination.

He also cleared the PGT Teacher and Combined Graduate Level examinations conducted by JSSC, besides the Assistant Conservator of Forest, Forest Range Officer and Food Safety Officer examinations.

CID Verifies Examination Records

The CID is examining records, application forms, documents, evaluation records, selection details and other information provided by examination-conducting agencies concerning Tiwari’s candidature.

During questioning, Tiwari allegedly told investigators that different “rate charts” were used for candidates seeking to qualify in various competitive examinations, with amounts ranging from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 70 lakh.

JSSC CGL Exam Cancelled

The Jharkhand government on Monday announced the cancellation of the JSSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination, one of the key demands of protesting students.

The government also cancelled examinations conducted by outsourced agency TSR Data Processing Pvt Ltd (TDPL) and the results published by the agency.

The latest arrests come as the CID continues its investigation into alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations in Jharkhand.
