AC blast in Dehradun hospital, woman dead; 12 injured

A major accident occurred at Dehradun’s Panicia Super Specialty Hospital on Wednesday morning when an AC exploded in the ICU. One woman died in the accident, while 12 people, including three policemen, were injured. The injured included a three-day-old baby girl and a two-and-a-half-year-old girl.

Patients evacuated on laps and stretchers

Following the explosion, smoke filled the ICU, causing panic within the hospital. Doctors, police officers, and hospital staff scrambled to rescue patients. Many patients were evacuated on stretchers and in laps, while still on oxygen support. Some were wrapped in bedsheets and carried to ambulances.

Many patients shifted to other hospitals

The injured have been admitted to Kailash Hospital and other nearby hospitals for treatment. At the time of the accident, approximately 14 to 15 patients were admitted to the hospital. According to the administration, all patients were evacuated in time.

Magisterial inquiry into the accident has begun

Following the incident, the administration has ordered a magisterial inquiry. According to the fire department, the team reached the scene within 5 to 7 minutes of receiving the information. Currently, investigations are underway into the AC blast, short circuit, and fire safety system.
