Adi Kailash Yatra Begins as Shiv-Parvati Temple Reopens After Six Months

Pithoragarh: The portals of the Shiva-Parvati temple, situated in Uttarakhand’s border district of Pithoragarh, were opened today amidst traditional rituals and ceremonies. With this event, the Adi Kailash Yatra has been formally inaugurated. Following a long wait, the opening of the temple portals has once again marked the resumption of pilgrim movement in the Vyas Valley.

200 Pilgrims Begin ‘Adi Kailash Yatra’ from Dharchula

The pilgrimage commenced from Dharchula under the supervision of the administration. SDM Ashish Joshi flagged off the first batch of approximately 200 pilgrims. This group will traverse a distance of about 140 kilometers to reach Adi Kailash, where the devotees will offer prayers and seek ‘darshan’ of Parvati Sarovar and Adi Kailash.

Devotees Start Yatra with Har Har Mahadev Chants

There was a sense of devotion in the air during the start of the pilgrimage. Devotees of Lord Shiva began their journey chanting the slogans of “Har Har Mahadev.” The administration has already put in place all necessary arrangements of security, healthcare, and traffic management to ensure a safe journey for the pilgrims. In 2025, approximately 35,000 devotees visited Adi Kailash.
