A memorial in honour of the late Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar will be established on the premises of Vidya Pratishthan, the educational institution in Baramati founded by the Pawar family. The announcement was made by a close associate of the family, confirming where commemorative plans will take shape.
The chosen site for the memorial is where Ajit Pawar’s last rites were performed following his tragic death in a plane crash near Baramati airport on January 28 that also killed four others. The location holds emotional significance for the family and supporters as a focal point of tribute in his hometown.
Close aide Kiran Gujar said senior leader Sharad Pawar and Pratibha Pawar visited the location and instructed trustees of Vidya Pratishthan to begin preparations for the memorial. Discussions with trustees will soon determine the design and structure of the tribute.
Ajit Pawar was a prominent political figure in Maharashtra, known for his role in state governance and development of Baramati, long regarded as the Pawar family’s political stronghold. The memorial aims to honour his public service and lasting impact on the region.
