‘Govt Still Has Time’: Akhilesh Yadav Seeks Parliament Debate on NEET Protest, Ram Temple Theft

New Delhi: Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday said the government still has time to discuss in Parliament the police action against NEET protesters and the alleged theft of donations at the Ram Temple, despite only two days remaining in the Monsoon Session.

Yadav said the Opposition had been demanding from the beginning that Union Home Minister Amit Shah make a statement on the police action during the July 20 protest by NEET aspirants.

Akhilesh Seeks Discussion on NEET Protest

Speaking to reporters, Yadav said the government should respond to the Opposition’s demand and allow a discussion on the issue.

“The Opposition has been demanding from the very first day that the Home Minister should make a statement and that the government should give its response. But the government is not ready. Even with only two days left, the government still has time to discuss both issues,” he said.

His remarks came after Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju told the Lok Sabha that Home Minister Amit Shah would make a statement on the NEET protest issue.

Yadav said the police action was not limited to NEET aspirants and alleged that young people and students were humiliated during the protest. He also referred to candidates affected by examination-related issues, including paper leaks.

SP Chief Raises Ram Temple Donation Issue

Yadav also demanded a discussion in Parliament on the controversy surrounding the alleged theft of donations at the Ram Temple.

Questioning whether the government or BJP leaders were involved in the matter, he said the alleged theft had hurt the religious sentiments of devotees who contributed to the temple.

“It is not a normal matter that donations offered to Lord Ram have been stolen. The faith of crores of people has been hurt,” Yadav said.

He questioned why the government was unwilling to allow a discussion on the issue in Parliament.

“They have formed governments not once, but several times, by playing with people’s faith and devotion. Why does the government not want a discussion on this issue?” he asked.

Opposition Continues to Press Govt

The SP chief’s remarks came amid continued Opposition demands for the government to respond in Parliament to both the police action during the NEET protest and the alleged Ram Temple donation controversy.

With only two days left in the Monsoon Session, Yadav maintained that the government could still take up both matters for discussion.
