Arms Smuggling and Hawala Racket Busted in Amritsar; Four Arrested, Including Afghan National

The Amritsar Commissionerate Police, in a major operation, has busted an internationally active illegal arms trafficking and hawala network. The police arrested 4 accused today, including an Afghan citizen. During the operation, the police recovered a total of 8 modern pistols and 7 cartridges.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were connected to a foreign network involved in the supply of illegal weapons. This network used drop locations in border areas to deliver consignments of weapons into India. These weapons were then supplied to local criminals so that they could be used in further illegal activities and crimes.

Funding from Hawala Network and Conspiracy of Organized Crime

According to the police, this gang also conducted money transactions through the hawala channel, which made this network even more complex and organized. The seized weapons were intended to supply criminal elements and affect law and order in the area.

    FIR registered in Amritsar

In this case, FIRs have been registered at two different police stations, PS Islamabad and PS Gate Hakima. The police are now investigating the backward and forward links of the entire network to find out who else is involved and how deep its international connection is.

Officials said that further investigations are likely to result in more arrests and seizures. Punjab Police has made it clear that its zero-tolerance policy against illegal weapons, hawala networks, and organized crime in the state will continue.
