Amritsar: In a major breakthrough against cross-border narcotics smuggling, Counter Intelligence Amritsar has busted a suspected drug-smuggling module, arrested one key operative and recovered 10 kg of heroin, Punjab Police said.
According to the preliminary investigation, the accused was allegedly in contact with a foreign-based smuggler and was receiving heroin consignments for further supply as directed.

10 Kg Heroin Recovered in Major Drug Bust
Punjab Police said the Counter Intelligence team in Amritsar apprehended one key operative during the operation and recovered 10 kg of heroin.
The investigation so far indicates alleged links between the accused and a foreign-based smuggler involved in supplying narcotics consignments for further distribution.
FIR Registered, Wider Network Under Probe
An FIR has been registered at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Amritsar.
Further investigation is underway to establish the complete forward and backward linkages, identify other people allegedly involved and dismantle the wider cross-border narcotics smuggling network.
Punjab Police said it remains committed to maintaining strict vigil against cross-border smuggling and taking action against drug trafficking and organised criminal networks.
