Amritsar: Dispute between school students leads to firing; one injured

A minor dispute between 11th and 12th-grade students in Amritsar has escalated into a serious criminal case. Following this dispute, some youths opened fire on Loharka Road on Sunday night, injuring one young man. The injured youth is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

The entire firing incident was captured on nearby CCTV cameras. The police have seized the footage and launched an investigation. The footage clearly shows the youths firing weapons.

The victim’s family has leveled serious allegations, claiming that a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) is exerting pressure to protect the accused. The family claims to possess complete CCTV footage of the incident, yet they allege that no impartial action is being taken.

The victim’s family has demanded a thorough and impartial investigation from the authorities. The police, however, state that they are investigating all aspects of the case and will take strict action against the culprits. Police personnel have been deployed in the area to maintain order due to the prevailing tension.

Police say strict action will be taken against the accused
Amritsar Police ADCP Shivrela said that the initial investigation revealed that the root of the dispute was a fight between 11th and 12th-grade students studying at the school, which escalated during an attempt to resolve it. The ADCP said that there is no pressure on the police, and the case will be investigated impartially, and appropriate action will be taken.
