Amritsar Encounter: Criminal who killed shopkeeper for not paying 50 Lac ransom Raja Billa killed

Notorious criminal Raja Billa, a resident of Tarn Taran, was killed in a police encounter in the Raiya area of ​​Amritsar Rural on Monday morning. He had recently shot and killed a shopkeeper in Dhulka village, Raiya, for refusing to pay a ransom of ₹50 lakh.

He had been absconding since the incident. Another accomplice of Billa has been arrested in this case. He was also injured in the police encounter and is undergoing treatment in the hospital.

According to DIG Border Range Sandeep Goyal, early Monday morning, police received information that Raja Billa was hiding in the Raiya area and was planning a crime. Upon receiving the information, police established a blockade in the area. Finding himself surrounded, the accused opened fire on the police party.

The criminal was shot in police retaliation. Seriously injured Raja Billa was immediately rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Police recovered illegal weapons and ammunition from the scene.

DIG Goyal said Raja Billa was wanted in several serious criminal cases in Punjab, particularly in the Tarn Taran and Amritsar areas. His death has put a stop to a major gang that was spreading terror in the region. Police are taking further action in the case.
