Amritsar Murder-Robbery accused arrested after encounter, 4 pistols recovered

Amritsar Commissionerate Police have arrested four accused in an armed robbery case in the Sultanwind area. One of the accused was injured in a police encounter. Police recovered four pistols from their possession, including a Glock pistol, two .30 bore pistols, a 9mm pistol, and a bulletproof jacket.

Commissioner Gurpreet Singh stated that FIR No. 276 was registered at Police Station B-Division on November 21st, after three youths robbed a readymade garments shop of ₹2.5 lakh in cash and a gold bracelet on November 20th.

During the investigation, police first arrested Baljit Singh alias Bullai with a Glock pistol and a bulletproof jacket. Based on his information, Kanish, Varun Bhatia alias Billa, and Karan Singh alias Suraj were arrested.

The accused fled into the fields upon seeing the police.

On the night of November 25th, while a police team was conducting a raid in the Vehruka Bypass area, a suspect was signalled to stop. Seeing the police, he ran towards the fields and fired three shots at them. SHO B-Division Inspector Baljinder Singh fired a warning shot in the air, but the accused continued to fire. To protect himself, the SHO fired in self-defence, hitting the accused in the leg. He was identified as Kanish, a resident of Jasin Road.

A raid was conducted, and Karan Singh and Varun Bhatia were arrested with two pistols.

Based on the accused’s statement, police raided the Valla area and arrested Karan Singh alias Suraj and Varun Bhatia alias Billa with two pistols. Investigation revealed that the accused had previously been involved in several serious cases, including attempted murder, snatching, vehicle theft, and illegal weapons.
