Amritsar Police bust Drug trafficking Module; two arrested with 7 Kg heroin

The Punjab Police has achieved a major breakthrough in Amritsar in its fight against drug trafficking. Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Amritsar Counter-Intelligence wing busted a drug trafficking module and arrested two accused individuals. In this case, the police have seized 7 kilograms of heroin. The information was shared by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav through a post on X.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the arrested individuals were regularly transporting consignments of heroin, and it is suspected that they are part of a larger drug network active in the region. Following the arrests, an FIR has been registered under the NDPS Act at the SSOC, Amritsar.

Police Working to Uncover the Entire Network

The police are currently conducting investigations to trace the forward and backward linkages involved in this case, with the aim of completely dismantling the entire network. The Punjab Police has reiterated its commitment to a “zero-tolerance” policy against drugs, making it clear that no form of drug syndicate activity will be tolerated within the state.

This operation marks a significant step towards ensuring a drug-free and safe Punjab.

The Police Department has appealed to the general public to immediately inform the police if they come across any information regarding drugs or illegal activities. This initiative by the Punjab Police to protect the state’s youth and society from the clutches of drug addiction will continue without interruption.
