Amritsar Police bust Pak-based smuggling network; 5 arrested with arms

In a major breakthrough, Amritsar Commissionerate Police dismantled a cross-border arms & narcotics smuggling network. The network busted had links with Pakistan, as per the Police. Police also arrested five operatives of the gang and recovered 12 Pistols (.30 bore) & 1.5 Kg Heroin.

The information has been shared by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav through a post on X.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested accused, Joban Singh & Jashanpreet Singh, were in direct touch with Pak-based smugglers. They communicated via social media to receive & deliver arms and narcotics consignments.

The pushed-in consignments are meant to fuel inter-gang rivalries in Punjab.

The police have lodged FIR under Athe rms Act & NDPS Act at PS Gate Hakima, Amritsar. Further investigation is underway to expose the full nexus, including the backward & forward linkages of this network.

DGP Yadav assured that Punjab Police  remains steadfast in its resolve to dismantle organised crime & drug trafficking networks, ensuring a safer, crime-free & drug-free Punjab.
