Amritsar firing: 24-year-old killed, another injured in bike-borne shooter attack

Amritsar: In Amritsar, two young men travelling in a car were fired upon by bike-borne assailants. Nimish Kumar, a 24-year-old resident of Sultan Wind Road, died on the spot in the firing, while his companion, Harpreet Singh alias Ganja, was seriously injured. The injured man was immediately admitted to a local private hospital, where his condition is reported to be critical.

The incident occurred late at night when gunfire erupted on the street outside Golden Avenue. According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred so suddenly that people were stunned. The gunfire created panic in the area, and people rushed out of their homes in panic. Kamal Kumar, the deceased’s brother, said that his brother, Nimish, worked as a recovery agent and had no enmity with anyone.

He claimed that the attackers fired about 14 bullets at his car, hitting Nimish with most of them. He said his brother had been out to eat the previous night and was attacked by young men on bikes as he approached Mall Mandi.

The family has described the incident as a premeditated attack and demanded a fair police investigation. They stated that their brother was a hardworking and simple boy with no enmity. Upon receiving information about the incident, police arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area. The forensic team recovered bullet casings from the scene.

Police have also seized the deceased’s car and launched an investigation. Police officer Rana Singh stated that footage from all nearby CCTV cameras is being examined to find the attackers. He added that the initial investigation has not yet established the motive behind the incident, but the accused will soon be arrested.
