Arvind Kejriwal, Family Get SIR Notices In Delhi; AAP Questions Election Commission

New Delhi: Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and four members of his family have received notices from the Delhi Election Commission as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Kejriwal, his wife Sunita Kejriwal, 25-year-old son Pulkit Kejriwal, father Gobind Ram Kejriwal and mother Gita Devi were served notices under the “Unmapped with Last SIR” category. The five family members are among 110 people who received notices in a specific part segment of Assembly Constituency 40, which covers the New Delhi constituency.

AAP Questions Kejriwal Family Notices

Reacting to the notices, AAP questioned how the names of Kejriwal and his family members could be flagged during the electoral roll revision.

In a post on X, the party asked the Election Commission how the names of a former three-time Delhi Chief Minister and his family members could be missing from the Delhi voter list.

The party’s response represents its political position on the issue; the issuance of an SIR notice itself is part of the electoral-roll verification process and does not by itself establish that a person is ineligible to vote.

47.7 Lakh Names Excluded From Delhi Draft Roll

The notices come amid the ongoing SIR exercise in Delhi. The draft electoral roll published on August 31 excluded around 47.7 lakh electors out of approximately 1.45 crore voters in the national capital. Electors left out of the draft roll can file claims for inclusion through Form 6, with supporting documents, during the prescribed period.

The Delhi SIR process has also generated wider questions over voters classified under categories such as “No Mapping” and “Logical Discrepancies”. A petition concerning transparency in the notice process is scheduled to come up before the Supreme Court on September 22.

Claims And Objections Underway

The claims and objections process is underway as election officials examine applications and discrepancies identified during the revision exercise.

The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on November 4, 2026, according to the current election schedule.
