Bageshwar felt again, earth shakes for the 11th time in 4 months

Mild tremors were felt in Bageshwar district on Thursday. The intensity was recorded at 1.8 on the Richter scale. According to the administration, there have been no reports of any casualties or property damage. The relevant departments are continuously monitoring the situation.

 Epicenter close to the surface, impact limited

The earthquake was recorded at 02:42:11 am (IST). Its epicenter was located at latitude 30.133 and longitude 79.843, which is believed to be near the Bageshwar area. The depth of the earthquake was estimated to be only 5 kilometers, placing it very close to the Earth’s surface. However, due to its low intensity, its impact was limited and there was not much panic among the people.

11th tremor in four months

According to District Disaster Officer Shikha Suyal, this is the 11th time in the last four months that earthquakes have been felt in the area. The administration is alert to these frequent mild tremors and is monitoring the situation.

Experts advise caution

Geologist Sunil Dutt says that while low-intensity earthquakes are usually harmless, frequent tremors can be a sign of geological activity. Therefore, people have been advised to remain vigilant and be prepared for any emergency
