Two Youths Killed, One Critically Injured in Indiscriminate Firing by Bike-Borne Assailants in Batala

Pathankot/Gurdaspur: Late at night on April 27, unidentified individuals opened fire indiscriminately in Batala. Two people died on the spot in this incident, while a third person sustained critical injuries. The incident occurred in Bhoma village, located within the Sri Hargobindpur subdivision of Gurdaspur district.

According to reports, Kashmir Singh and Jugraj Singh both residents of Bhoma village had gone out for a routine evening stroll accompanied by their associate, Jugraj Singh. Suddenly, six unidentified assailants arriving on two motorcycles launched a rapid and continuous barrage of gunfire at them.

Batala SSP Arrives at the Scene

Upon receiving information about the incident, Batala Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mehtab Singh immediately rushed to the site to take stock of the situation. He interacted with local residents and attempted to ascertain the motive behind the attack. He stated that the police are focusing on various potential angles, including personal enmity. The police are investigating the case from every possible perspective. According to the SSP, preliminary investigations have not revealed any indications of a ransom demand or any prior threats issued to the victims.

Police Seal Off Area; CCTV Footage Being Scrutinized

The shooting incident has created an atmosphere of panic in the locality. The police have cordoned off the area and are utilizing technological aids to track down the culprits. CCTV footage from cameras installed within the village and along surrounding routes is currently being examined.

Teams Working Continuously in the Field

The SSP stated that several specialized police teams have been constituted and are currently conducting raids to identify and apprehend the accused. The SSP stated that our teams are continuously working in the field. This is a serious crime, and we will soon put the accused behind bars. A detailed investigation into the matter is underway.
