Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who is currently on a 10-day visit to Japan to attract global investment to Punjab, held an important meeting with Mr. Ogawa, Senior Managing Director of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), in Tokyo on Tuesday. The meeting focused on accelerating Japanese investment in specific sectors in Punjab and enhancing long-term economic cooperation.



Tribute at Gandhi Park before key events
Earlier, Chief Minister Mann visited Gandhi Park in Tokyo, where he offered flowers at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. He said that Gandhi’s principles of peace, harmony, and development continue to inspire Punjab’s global outreach efforts. A high-level delegation of senior Punjab government officials accompanied the Chief Minister on this visit.
High-Level Meeting with Top Japanese Companies
Following his meeting with the Senior Managing Director of JBIC, Chief Minister Mann will meet with officials from several major Japanese companies. These include:

The meetings will focus on industrial cooperation, increasing manufacturing, and new investment opportunities in Punjab.
Discussions with JICA on Infrastructure Projects
The Chief Minister is also expected to meet with the Director General of JICA’s South Asia Department to discuss infrastructure, transportation, and development projects aimed at strengthening Punjab’s long-term development.
Discussions with the Japanese Government
During his visit to Japan, the Chief Minister will also meet with Komori Takuo, Minister of Industry of the Japanese Government, to explore possibilities for deeper collaboration in technology, industry, and smart solutions. Later, he will hold discussions with senior officials from Fujitsu Limited on digital cooperation and innovation.
Invitation to the Punjab Progressive Summit 2026
Chief Minister Mann is also using this visit to invite Japanese industry leaders and government representatives to the Progressive Punjab Summit to be held in Mohali in March 2026. He stated that Punjab aims to build long-term partnerships with Japan in manufacturing, digital technology, mobility, and clean energy.
