Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday welcomed the acquittal of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the Delhi excise policy case. Reacting to the court’s decision, Mann said that “truth always prevails,” asserting that the verdict has brought clarity and vindication after a prolonged legal and political battle.

‘आप’ सुप्रीमो अरविंद केजरीवाल जी और दिल्ली के पूर्व उपमुख्यमंत्री मनीष सिसोदिया जी को दिल्ली की माननीय अदालत द्वारा शराब घोटाले मामले में बरी कर दिया गया है। माननीय अदालत के इस फैसले ने सच्चाई को सबके सामने ला दिया है। समय के साथ बाकी सभी मामलों की… https://t.co/d6Z1FQagHW

In a post shared on social media platform X, Mann wrote in Hindi: “सच की हमेशा जीत होती है… माननीय अदालत के इस फैसले ने सच्चाई को सबके सामने ला दिया है। समय के साथ बाकी सभी मामलों की सच्चाई भी सामने आ जाएगी। इंकलाब ज़िंदाबाद।” His message underscored the party’s long-held stance that the allegations were unfounded and politically motivated.
The decision by a Delhi court to acquit Kejriwal and Sisodia in the alleged liquor policy “scam” case marks a significant moment in Indian politics. The case revolved around the now-scrapped 2021–22 Delhi excise policy, which central investigative agencies had alleged was manipulated to benefit select private players.
After extensive hearings and examination of evidence, the court reportedly concluded that the prosecution had failed to establish sufficient grounds to prove criminal conspiracy or corruption. The acquittal has been seen as a major legal relief for the AAP leadership, which has consistently maintained that the case lacked substantive evidence.
Party leaders across states responded with celebratory messages, describing the verdict as a reaffirmation of faith in the judiciary. Supporters gathered at party offices in Delhi and Punjab, expressing solidarity with the leadership.
Bhagwant Mann’s statement quickly gained traction online, drawing both praise and criticism. AAP supporters hailed the tweet as a powerful message reinforcing confidence in the judicial process. Opposition leaders, however, stated that legal processes should not be politicised and urged caution in drawing broader conclusions.
Political analysts note that Mann’s strong endorsement of the verdict signals renewed momentum for AAP ahead of upcoming electoral contests. As a key ally and prominent face of the party outside Delhi, Mann’s remarks reflect the broader narrative being shaped by the AAP leadership — that the acquittal validates their claim of innocence.
The excise policy case had previously led to arrests, resignations, and intense political exchanges between the AAP and opposition parties at both state and national levels. The verdict is therefore expected to influence public discourse and party strategies in the months ahead.
Beyond political rhetoric, the court’s decision underscores the importance of due process and evidence-based adjudication in high-profile cases. Legal experts say the acquittal highlights the judiciary’s role as an independent arbiter amid heated political narratives.
For the AAP, the development could bolster its governance narrative in Delhi and Punjab. Mann’s reference to “remaining cases” in his tweet suggests that the party anticipates similar outcomes in related legal matters.
As the dust settles, the focus may now shift to policy priorities and governance agendas, even as political debate continues over the broader implications of the case.
