The Bhai Jaita Ji Memorial is a state-of-the-art tribute to the Sikh martyr Baba Jiwan Singh (Bhai Jaita Ji), located in Sri Anandpur Sahib, Punjab. Dedicated to the public by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on October 5, 2025, the memorial features five galleries that trace the story of Bhai Jaita Ji’s unmatched bravery, including the moment he carried the severed head of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji from Delhi to Anandpur Sahib. The structure beautifully blends modern architecture with the timeless spirit of Sikh history.
After years of delay and neglect, the story of Bhai Jaita Ji, the brave Sikh who carried the Guru’s head through danger and darkness, has finally been given the honour it deserves.
A Memorial with a Soul
The memorial, spread across five acres, is not just a government project; it feels like a sacred space where history breathes again. Each of the five galleries draws visitors into Bhai Jaita’s journey: from his humble origins as a Rangreta Sikh to his act of ultimate devotion and sacrifice.
Soft light, immersive visuals, and solemn music recreate the spirit of courage that defined Bhai Jaita Ji’s life. For many, the experience is both emotional and enlightening.
A Promise Kept
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, visibly moved during his address, called it “a sacred duty fulfilled.”
“Bhai Jaita Ji’s courage reminds us that devotion has no caste or status. He showed that true Sikhi is about equality and sacrifice,” Mann said before bowing his head in reverence.
For the people of Punjab, the moment felt like a long-awaited recognition, a sign that the government is finally investing not just in infrastructure, but in identity and pride.
People’s Punjab
Under the Aam Aadmi Party’s leadership, Punjab’s government has made heritage preservation a priority. The memorial is part of the broader “Virasat Punjab Di” initiative, aimed at restoring Sikh and Punjabi monuments while inspiring the youth to reconnect with their cultural roots.
Cultural Affairs Minister Harjot Singh Bains noted,
“When our children visit this memorial, they won’t just read history, they’ll feel it. That’s how a culture lives on.”
Outside, devotees offered prayers while schoolchildren took notes for history projects. It wasn’t just a visit — it was a lesson in identity.
Beyond Politics, a Sense of Pride
Even among critics, the project drew appreciation for its depth and dignity.
An elderly devotee inside the final gallery wiped his eyes quietly. “I never thought I’d see Bhai Jaita Ji’s story told this beautifully,” he said, voice trembling.
Heritage with Heart
In an era where development often means steel and concrete, the Bhai Jaita Ji Memorial stands as a reminder that true progress also honors the soul of a people.
Through this project, the AAP government in Punjab has done more than build a monument, it has built a bridge between faith and the future, showing that the stories of sacrifice and equality at the heart of Sikhism still guide Punjab today.
As the sun sets over the Anandpur Sahib hills, the memorial’s marble glows softly, a quiet symbol of courage, remembrance, and renewal.
