Bloody clash over vehicle crossing: Nihang shot dead in Batala, attacker also shoots himself

Batala (Gurdaspur): A minor dispute over vehicle crossing in Batala city of Punjab escalated into a bloody clash. A Nihang was killed and two youths were injured in a fierce exchange of fire between two groups at Symbol Chowk. Following the incident, one of the attackers attempted suicide by shooting himself. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.

According to eyewitnesses, an altercation broke out between the two groups over vehicle crossing. During this, a young man in a Fortuner pulled out a pistol and fired two to three shots. In response, Nihang Deepinder Singh, who was on the other side, also fired, injuring a young man.

The altercation then escalated into a violent one, with the other group firing a barrage of bullets at the Nihang. Seriously injured, Deepinder Singh, died on the spot. Eyewitnesses claim that approximately 15 rounds of gunfire were fired during the incident.

After the incident, the young man who shot the Nihang shot himself with his own pistol. One of his companions climbed on top of the fallen Nihang and continued firing. The injured men have been identified as Jagjit Singh and his brother, Kamalpreet Singh.

The deceased, Deepinder Singh, was a resident of the Shukrapura area of ​​Batala and ran a drug de-addiction center. The injured man is reportedly related to a family that runs a gun house.

SSP Dr. Mehtab Singh stated that preliminary investigations revealed that a dispute arose between the two parties over a vehicle crossing, after which both parties opened fire with their licensed revolvers. Police have registered a case and are gathering evidence and taking further action.

This incident, which occurred in broad daylight in a busy market area, has created an atmosphere of panic in the area.
