BSF, Punjab Police Foil Multiple Smuggling and Criminal Attempts Along Border; Arms, Drugs, and Drone Recovered

Gurdaspur: The Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police, in a series of coordinated intelligence-based operations across Punjab’s border districts of Gurdaspur, Firozpur, and Amritsar, successfully foiled several smuggling and criminal attempts on Friday evening.

The joint efforts led to the arrest of one smuggler and the recovery of arms, ammunition, narcotics, and a drone carrying weapons.

Smuggler Arrested in Gurdaspur

In Gurdaspur, BSF troops in collaboration with the Punjab Police apprehended an Indian smuggler near Dana Mandi in Dera Baba Nanak.
The accused, a resident of Kahlanwali village, was found in possession of a pistol and six live rounds.

Arms and Ammunition Recovered in Firozpur

In another operation in Firozpur, the BSF acted swiftly on credible intelligence about miscreants planning criminal activity near the border village of Maboke.
The prompt response thwarted their plans, and officials recovered 16 live rounds and a kirpan (sword) from the site.

Drone Carrying Glock Pistol Seized in Amritsar

Meanwhile, in Amritsar, BSF troops foiled a cross-border smuggling attempt and recovered a DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone carrying a Glock pistol with two magazines near the village of Nesta on October 22.

“This recovery once again reflects the unmatched alertness, professionalism, and dedication of BSF troops in preventing cross-border smuggling attempts and ensuring the security of the nation’s frontiers,” the Punjab Frontier BSF said in a release.

Narcotics Recovered from Firozpur and Amritsar Sectors

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, BSF and Punjab Police recovered 602 grams of heroin from an agricultural field near Tindiwala village in Firozepur.

In another search operation near Bhaini Rajputana village in the Amritsar sector, the alert BSF troops recovered 3.675 kg of ICE drug from farmland.
The packet, wrapped in yellow adhesive tape with a metal ring and illuminating strips, suggested a drone drop from across the border.

Pistol Found Near Roranwala Khurd

During yet another search operation near Roranwala Khurd village in Amritsar, BSF personnel recovered a pistol wrapped in yellow adhesive tape from a field.

“These consecutive recoveries once again reflect BSF’s resolute dedication towards ensuring the security and sanctity of the nation’s borders,” said the BSF Punjab Frontier PRO.

Crackdown on Cross-Border Smuggling Intensifies

Earlier this month, BSF troops along the Amritsar border had also seized large quantities of heroin, ICE, and ammunition — part of a sustained crackdown on cross-border smuggling networks operating from Pakistan.

The series of successful operations underscores the high level of coordination between the BSF and Punjab Police in combating transnational crime and protecting India’s border regions.
