CGST Ludhiana busts Rs 62 crore GST evasion racket; Two arrested

Ludhiana: In a crackdown on tax fraud, the team of Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Commissionerate, Ludhiana has unearthed a massive GST evasion amounting to Rs 62 crore.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, officials launched an investigation against multiple firms operating in the audio-video production sector.

According to preliminary findings, it appears that these firms have imported services worth Rs.342 Crores from overseas entities and evaded GST on the same.

According to the CGST officials, investigation further reveals that the said firms haven’t followed any documentation process mandated as per GST laws, which shows the blatant nature of tax evasion.

In a release issued on Thursday, the officials confirmed that the two arrests made so far in this case and the investigation is ongoing to uncover the full extent of the network and quantum of GST evasion involved.

In a statement, the CGST Ludhiana Commissionerate reaffirms its commitment to detecting tax frauds and thus ensuring level playing field for honest taxpayers. The department emphasized that it remains vigilant and committed to taking stringent action against fraudulent practices undermining the GST regime.
