Chandigarh Youth Sets His Own Bike on Fire After Rear-End Clash and Argument

Chandigarh: Following a minor road dispute in Chandigarh, a young man, in a fit of rage, set his own motorcycle on fire. The incident occurred on the dividing road between Sector 37 and Sector 41. The youth first rear-ended a car; subsequently, during an argument with the car driver, he opened his bike’s fuel tank and set it ablaze. Within moments, the motorcycle was engulfed in roaring flames.

Bystanders alerted the police control room and the fire brigade about the incident. A fire crew arrived at the scene, but by then, the motorcycle had already been completely reduced to ashes. Subsequently, police personnel from the Sector 39 Police Station arrived at the spot and arrested the accused youth.

Lost His Temper During the Argument

Inspector Rajiv Kumar, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Sector 39, stated that the accused has been identified as Jaswinder, a resident of Ropar, Punjab. He works as a mechanic in Chandigarh.

According to the police, on Sunday afternoon, Jaswinder was riding his motorcycle along the road dividing Sector 37 and Sector 41. During this commute, his bike rear-ended a car traveling ahead of him. Following the collision, an argument erupted between the two parties on the road.

According to eyewitnesses, Jaswinder suddenly flew into a rage during the argument. He opened the fuel tank cap of his motorcycle, pulled a matchbox from his pocket, and set the bike on fire. As soon as the fire ignited, towering flames began to rise from the vehicle.

Driver Shocked as Burning Bike Erupts After Crash

The incident caused a scene of chaos and panic at the location. The car driver, too, was terrified by the youth’s actions. People present in the vicinity immediately informed the police and the fire brigade.

The police recorded the car driver’s statement; however, he declined to file a formal complaint. The driver informed the police that he would personally bear the cost of repairing the damage to his vehicle. He stated that since the youth had set fire to his *own* motorcycle in a fit of anger, he did not wish to get entangled in any further disputes.

    Medical Test Confirms Alcohol Consumption

The police took the accused, Jaswinder, into custody and subjected him to a medical examination. The tests confirmed that he was under the influence of alcohol. The Sector-39 police station has registered a case against the accused. The police are investigating the entire sequence of events. Meanwhile, the incident of setting a motorcycle on fire right in the middle of the road disrupted traffic in the area for a short while.
