Congress organizes ‘Sugar Langar’ in Chandigarh, distributes 1-kg packets

Mohali: The Congress party organized a ‘Sugar Langar’ at the Congress Bhawan in Sector 35, Chandigarh, where one-kg sugar packets were being distributed free of charge. A large number of people arrived to collect the sugar, leading to scuffles and some packets being torn. The packets also bear the Congress election symbol.

Claim of distributing 25 tons of sugar

Chandigarh Congress President HS Lucky stated that approximately 25 tons of sugar are planned to be distributed as part of the program. He stated that each bag contains 50 1-kg packets. Currently, 15 bags, or approximately 750 kg, of sugar have been brought to the scene.

Congress protests against rising prices

HS Lucky stated that sugar prices have risen by 15 to 20 rupees per kg in many places in the recent past. He alleged that the government is not taking adequate steps to control inflation. Congress says that rising prices of essential food items are directly affecting the budgets of ordinary families, and this campaign is being launched to protest this.
