Controversy over Akal Takht decision, questions raised on Sukhbir Badal

Amritsar: Former Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Raghbir Singh, has strongly objected to Sukhbir Singh Badal’s statement. He said that calling the religious decision taken on December 2, 2024, a conspiracy is against the dignity of the Takht.

He clarified that the decision taken that day was based solely on a confession of guilt and there was no conspiracy involved.

Action taken after confession
Giani Raghbir Singh stated that the entire leadership team of the Shiromani Akali Dal appeared at the Takht Sahib that day and confessed their actions.

He said that as per tradition, they were also given the opportunity to perform religious service, but despite performing the service, Sukhbir Badal later denied his actions.

Challenged to prove the conspiracy
The former Jathedar said that if Sukhbir Badal, along with his family, comes to Sri Akal Takht Sahib and proves that the decision was made as part of a conspiracy, he is willing to accept any punishment imposed by the Sikh community.

He stressed that the traditions and orders of the Takht Sahib are supreme and their violation will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Questions raised on dignity
Giani Raghbir Singh said that such statements hurt the dignity of religious institutions and raise questions about the traditions of the Sikh community.

He appealed to all parties to make responsible statements on this sensitive issue and respect the dignity of religious institutions.
