Farmers sitting at the Shambhu and Khanauri borders on the Punjab-Haryana border are experiencing division among themselves. Senior farmer leader Rulda Singh Mansa has labelled the ongoing farmer agitation at these borders as misguided. Mansa stated that the agitation is driven primarily by two individuals: Jagjit Singh Dallewal and Sarwan Singh Pandher.

He claimed that neither of these leaders sought his consent before initiating the protest, asserting that they acted independently. Additionally, Mansa accused Dallewal of attempting to create divisions among farmer organizations following the commencement of the agitation. He noted that Sarwan Singh Pandher, representing the Mazdoor Kisan Union Punjab, has already been pursuing a separate agenda.

Mansa urged Jagjit Singh Dallewal to withdraw from his fast unto death for the sake of his health, emphasizing that it takes years for a farmer to ascend to a leadership position within an organization.

In response, Manjit Singh Rai, chief of the Doaba Kisan Union, expressed that Mansa should not have made such statements at this critical time. Although he acknowledged Mansa as a respected senior leader, he encouraged him to avoid making divisive comments. Rai stated that Mansa’s claims of being uninformed and unconsulted regarding the movement are completely unfounded. He clarified that both Sarwan Singh Pandher and Surjit Singh Phul had engaged with all organizations, holding meetings to gain their support.

Addressing Dallewal’s fast unto death, Rai remarked that Dallewal had dedicated his life to the farmers’ cause in the Kisan Andolan, and urged Mansa to provide encouragement rather than demoralization.
