Amritsar, Punjab: Amritsar Police has busted a racket which traps people through women and blackmails them by making obscene videos. Police has arrested 12 people in this case. These include a fake inspector and some women.
The matter came to light when Batala resident Jaspal Singh filed a complaint in Maqboolpura police station of Amritsar. A woman called him near Alpha One in Amritsar. There she locked him in a room and made an obscene video. After this the woman demanded Rs 4 lakh from Jaspal.
Raids were conducted across Punjab
According to ADCP Jagroop Kaur Bath, the police acted immediately. To bust the gang, teams formed raided all over Punjab including Mansa, Hoshiarpur and Gurdaspur. First five people were caught. After interrogation, a total of 12 accused were arrested.
One member of the gang used to threaten people by introducing himself as a police inspector. The accused have committed such crimes in different parts of Punjab. Police have recovered 15 mobile phones, Rs 36 thousand cash and three cars from them.
The police have registered a case of kidnapping and extortion. Some other members of the gang are still absconding. The police have appealed to the people that if anyone has become a victim of this gang, then they should inform the Maqboolpura police station.
