Unearthing another fake billing scam of Rs 200 crores, the directorate general of GST intelligence (DGGI) Ludhiana arrested the mastermind on Saturday.
The accused have been identified Satveer Singh Sekhon. He is said to be engaged in wrongful availment and utilization of ineligible Input Tax Credit of 30.52 Crore without underlying supply of goods by fake billing of Rs 200.05 crores through the firms managed by him namely M/s Batala Metal Industries, H.S. Steel Industries and Citizen Industries.
M/s Batala Metal Industries was engaged in trading and manufacturing of MS Scrap, HR Coils and ERW pipes.
During the search operation, 1 CPU and other incriminating documents like invoices, cheque books & passbooks of various accounts, and diaries, etc. were seized from the residential and official premises of Satveer Singh Sekhon.
The DGGI officials informed that Satveer Singh Sekhon was partner in one of the firms and was running the other two firms in the names of his wife and driver. Thus, as mastermind he has availed and utilized fraudulent ITC of about Rs 30.52 crores without underlying supply of goods through fake billing of Rs 200.05 crores in violations of provision of CGST Act, 2017.
The mastermind was confronted with the gathered evidences wherein he has admitted to the offences committed under the CGST Act, 2017 in his voluntary statement. Accordingly, Satveer Singh Sekhon was placed under arrest on 12.10.2024 and sent to judicial remand. Further investigation is underway.
DGGI Ludhiana is further identifying and focusing on such dummy entities that are involved in the fraudulent activity of bogus billing. DGGI Ludhiana is actively unearthing the menace of fake billing and other GST-related fraud/evasion.
