₹145 crore assistance to 33,000 girls under the Nanda Gaura Yojana

New Delhi: Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday transferred ₹145.93 crore directly to the bank accounts of 33,251 girls under the Uttarakhand government’s ambitious ‘Nanda Gaura Yojana’ through DBT.

This assistance, provided under the financial year 2025-26, aims to provide financial support to girls from birth to education. The Chief Minister said that the government is committed to their education, safety, and employment at every level.

₹11,000 at birth, ₹51,000 on passing 12th grade

Under the Nanda Gaura Yojana, financial assistance of ₹11,000 is provided at the birth of a girl child. On passing the 12th grade, an incentive of ₹51,000 is provided for higher education.

The government believes that this scheme is not only financial assistance but also a major step towards eliminating discrimination between sons and daughters in society.

3.77 Lakh Girls Benefited So Far

According to government data, a total of ₹11 billion 68 crore 49 lakh has been provided to 3,77,784 girls so far. This scheme is playing a vital role in preventing female foeticide, promoting institutional delivery, and encouraging girl child education.

The Chief Minister also stated that the state government has provided 30 percent reservation for women in government jobs, which has increased their participation and brought about a positive change in the work culture.

Who benefited this year?

At the event, Departmental Minister Rekha Arya informed that of the 33,251 girls receiving benefits this year, 5,913 were newborn girls, while 27,338 girls received assistance upon passing the 12th grade.

Across the state, 5,913 newborn girls and 27,338 intermediate pass students received benefits under the scheme this year.
