Dehradun AQI Turns Hazardous as Rain, Snowfall Forecast Across Uttarakhand

Dehradun: The air in Dehradun turned toxic on January 1st, the first day of the year. The AQI here exceeded 250, which falls in the dangerous category. Rain is expected in 11 districts today, including Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital, Almora, and Champawat. Snowfall is also expected in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Pithoragarh.

Snowfall is possible in areas with an altitude of 3200 meters or higher. A yellow fog alert has been issued for six districts, including Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, Champawat, Dehradun, and the lower areas of Pauri. A cold day warning has been issued for Nainital, Dehradun, and Udham Singh Nagar.

The temperature in Dehradun dropped by 7°C in two days, where the temperature was 23°C two days ago, it has now dropped to 16°C.

Dehradun will remain cloudy

In the capital, Dehradun, the sky is expected to be mostly clear to partly cloudy. Fog is expected in the lower areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 16 degrees Celsius and 9 degrees Celsius, respectively.

According to the IMD, the weather is expected to change in the mountainous districts on Thursday. Light to moderate rain and snowfall are also expected in some areas of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, and Pithoragarh. Light rain and snowfall are also expected at some places in Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital, Almora, and Champawat districts. Snowfall is also possible in areas above 3200 meters.
