New Delhi: In a major breakthrough, the Anti-Gang Squad (AGS) of the Delhi Police Crime Branch has dismantled a massive counterfeit drug syndicate operating across multiple Indian states.
Six individuals, including the alleged kingpin, have been arrested for manufacturing, distributing, and selling fake life-saving medicines.
Pan-India Operation Uncovers Fake Drug Network
The racket had an extensive network spread across Uttar Pradesh (Moradabad, Deoria, Gorakhpur), Haryana (Panipat, Jind), and Himachal Pradesh (Baddi, Solan).
Two illicit manufacturing and packaging units were busted—one in Jind, Haryana and the other in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh—where fake drugs of reputed pharmaceutical companies were being produced in large quantities.
Initial Interception Leads to Wider Crackdown
The investigation began with a tip-off, leading to a trap being set on July 30 at HP CNG Petrol Pump, Shyamnath Marg, Civil Lines, Delhi. A car was intercepted, and two individuals—Mohd. Alam and Mohd.
Saleem from Moradabad—were caught transporting counterfeit medicines. Representatives of a pharmaceutical company present at the scene confirmed the packaging and stamps were inconsistent with official standards. Laboratory tests later verified the drugs were indeed fake.
Further Arrests and Ongoing Investigation
Based on custodial interrogation and follow-up raids, four more individuals—Prem Shankar Prajapati, Parmanand, and two others—were arrested. Investigations are still underway to uncover the full extent of the racket, trace the source of raw materials, financial links, and identify other accomplices involved in this illegal operation.
