Delhi Police Solve Cab Driver Murder Case; Three Arrested, Juvenile Among Accused

New Delhi: Delhi Police have solved the murder of a cab driver in East Delhi’s Krishna Nagar, arresting three accused—including a juvenile—while launching a manhunt for a fourth suspect who remains on the run.

The victim, identified as Vijay Kumar, a resident of West Vinod Nagar, was found with multiple stab wounds inside his cab on July 23 after police received a PCR call. He was rushed to Dr Hedgewar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. A murder case was registered, and several police teams were assigned to investigate.

According to police, the accused had consumed alcohol together before allegedly plotting to rob a cab driver for quick money. Investigators said the absconding accused, Aman, allegedly procured a knife and booked a Rapido cab using Ayan’s mobile phone.

The four then allegedly boarded the cab, attacked the driver near Chitra Vihar crossing, repeatedly stabbing him before shifting his body to the back seat. They fled with the vehicle but abandoned the blood-stained cab near East Azad Nagar Metro Station after being chased by members of the public.

Police said the case was cracked using CCTV footage, call detail records (CDRs), and technical surveillance, which led investigators to the accused in New Seelampur. The arrested suspects have been identified as Ayan, who has four previous criminal cases, including robbery and snatching, and Sahil, who has one previous snatching case. A juvenile was also apprehended, while efforts are underway to arrest Aman.

During the investigation, police recovered the murder weapon, the blood-stained cab, blood-stained clothes, mobile phones used in the crime, and other incriminating evidence. Further investigation is in progress.
