Delhi Man Allegedly Kills Wife Over Infidelity Suspicion, Dies by Suicide After Consuming Poison

New Delhi: A 28-year-old man allegedly killed his wife by attacking her with a battery after suspecting she was speaking to someone on the phone, before dying by suicide by consuming poison in Delhi’s Ranhola area, police said.

The incident came to light on July 2 after police received a PCR call reporting an attempted murder in Tilangpur Kotla village in Outer Delhi.

Wife Attacked During Domestic Dispute

According to the investigation, the accused, identified as Vinay, allegedly struck his 24-year-old wife, Nisha, on the head with an Exide battery following an argument over his suspicion that she was talking to someone on the phone.

Police said that after the alleged murder, Vinay consumed aluminium phosphide, a highly toxic pesticide.

Confession to Sister Before Suicide

Investigators said Vinay then took the couple’s three-year-old daughter to his mother’s rented accommodation in Kotla Vihar Phase-I, located about 150 yards from their residence.

He allegedly informed his sister, Priya, that he had killed his wife and consumed poison.

Priya rushed to the couple’s rented room and found Nisha lying in a pool of blood. She immediately alerted neighbours, who informed the police.

Both Declared Brought Dead

Vinay was taken to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Police also rushed Nisha, who had sustained severe head injuries, to the same hospital, where she was declared brought dead.

Post-mortem examinations of both the deceased have been conducted, and their bodies have been handed over to their family for the last rites.

Investigation Underway

Preliminary investigations revealed that Vinay and Nisha had been married for five years and had a three-year-old daughter. The family had been living as tenants in the area for the past six to seven months.

Police have registered a case under Section 103(1) (Murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Ranhola Police Station. Further investigation is underway.

Similar Incident Reported Earlier

In a separate incident reported earlier, a 20-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly strangling her husband to death following a heated argument over suspected infidelity in Delhi’s Jagatpuri area.

According to police, the accused, Alisha, allegedly killed her husband, Mustakeem alias Sahil, after frequent domestic disputes arising from his suspicion that she was involved in an extramarital relationship. The incident took place at their residence in Rashid Market in east Delhi’s Jagatpuri.
