Drug capsule business spread from Amritsar to Haridwar: 70 thousand tablets with drug money seized

Punjab Police has achieved another major success on the illegal pharma opioids network. The Amritsar Police Commissionerate has busted the illegal supply chain of narcotic capsules and traced it to a drug manufacturing unit in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. The information about this entire operation has been made public by Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav himself.

DGP Gaurav Yadav said that this action started with a small recovery of 35 tablets. On the basis of layer-by-layer revelations and rapid raids, the police made a big disclosure by reaching the roots of this illegal network in Haridwar.

In this operation Over 70,000 Tramadol tablets have been recovered while ₹7.65 lakh drug money and 325 Kgs of raw material of Tramadol were also confiscated. 

During the investigation, a total of 6 people have been arrested so far, including local chemists, distributors and the plant head of a pharmaceutical company called Lucent Biotech Limited. A case has been registered against all the accused under the NDPS Act and other sections.

The seized strips bore “Government Supply Only – Not for Sale,” raising serious concerns about illegal diversion of medical stock. Key pharma units found violating norms have been sealed and records scrutinized.

Strict message from DGP

DGP Gaurav Yadav said that the drug network will not be allowed to flourish on the soil of Punjab at any cost. Be it traditional drugs or pharmaceutical opioids, the Punjab Police is taking action from every angle.
