“Enough is enough”: Greenland PM rejects Trump’s land acquisition claims

NewDelhi: Greenland’s Prime Minister, Jens Frederik Nielsen, has taken a strong stance against US President Donald Trump’s threat to annex the Danish territory of Norway, saying, “Enough is enough.”Nielsen wrote in a Facebook post: “No more pressure. No more hints. No more dreams of annexation. We are open to dialogue, but it must be done through proper procedures and with respect for international law.”
He also said, “Greenland is our home and our territorial property. And it will remain so.”

Trump’s in the name of national security Claim

On Sunday, Trump again expressed his desire for Greenland, saying, “Greenland is essential for our national security. Russian and Chinese ships are present here.”

This isn’t the first time Trump has talked about acquiring Greenland. Even before becoming president, he expressed this desire in an interview with The Atlantic, which sparked a response from the leaders of both Denmark and Greenland.

Denmark and Greenland reject US claims

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said, “It’s absolutely pointless for the US to talk about annexing Greenland. The US has no right to annex any country of the Danish Empire.”
She urged the US to respect the interests of Greenland and its people, who have clearly stated that their land is not for sale.
