Mumbai: Actress Sonakshi Sinha said that after marriage, Zaheer Iqbal or his family members did not pressure her to convert to Islam. Sonakshi said- Zaheer and I do not really pay attention to religion. We are two people who love each other.
We just wanted to marry each other. He did not impose his religion on me and I did not impose my religion on him. There was no discussion about this. Sonakshi said these things in an interview with Hauterfly.
Sonakshi said- We respect each other’s culture a lot
Sonakshi said that she and Zaheer respect each other’s culture a lot. Sonakshi said- We understand each other’s culture. Zaheer follows some traditions in his house, I follow some traditions in my house. He comes to my house for Diwali puja, I go to his house for niyaaz. That’s all that matters.
Sonakshi was not asked to convert her religion
Sonakshi said- In this situation, it was best to get married under the Special Marriage Act. Where a Hindu woman did not need to change religion. It is very easy. I was never asked to convert. We loved each other.
Sonakshi-Zaheer got married on 23 June
Sonakshi and Zaheer had a registered marriage on June 23 instead of getting married according to Hindu and Muslim customs. After this, they hosted a wedding reception at Bastian Restaurant in Mumbai on the night of June 23 in which many big stars of the film industry including Salman Khan, Rekha, Kajol attended.
At the time of the wedding, there was a discussion about whether Sonakshi would convert to Islam after marriage. Zaheer’s father Iqbal Ratnasi also answered this question of the people. He said that Sonakshi will not convert to Islam after marriage.
