Defence Ministry Job Fair for Veterans in Delhi Today

The Ministry of Defence is set to organise a dedicated job fair for ex-servicemen at Delhi Cantonment today, aiming to provide employment opportunities and support their transition into civilian careers. The event is being conducted under the Directorate General of Resettlement (DGR), which functions under the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare.

The job fair is part of a nationwide initiative to connect retired armed forces personnel with corporate employers who value their discipline, skills, and experience.

    Part of Nationwide Employment Initiative

Officials have stated that this job fair is one of several being organised across the country during the financial year 2025–26. The DGR has planned multiple such events in different cities to enhance employment prospects for veterans.

Earlier job fairs held in cities like Pune, Varanasi, and others have seen strong participation from both ex-servicemen and private sector companies, highlighting the growing demand for skilled veterans in various industries.

The Delhi Cantonment event is expected to witness similar enthusiasm, with participation from leading recruiters across sectors.

    Opportunities Across Multiple Sectors

The job fair will offer opportunities in sectors such as manufacturing, infrastructure, corporate services, security, and administration. Ex-servicemen from the Army, Navy, and Air Force are expected to participate, showcasing their technical, managerial, and operational expertise.

Companies attending the fair will conduct on-the-spot interactions, shortlisting, and preliminary interviews, enabling quicker hiring decisions.

Bridging Gap Between Military and Civilian Careers

The primary objective of the initiative is to bridge the gap between military service and civilian employment. Ex-servicemen often possess strong leadership qualities, discipline, and specialised training, making them valuable assets for industries.

Through such job fairs, the government aims to ensure a smoother resettlement process for retiring personnel by providing them access to suitable career opportunities.

Support from Directorate General of Resettlement

The Directorate General of Resettlement plays a crucial role in facilitating these employment drives by coordinating with corporate organisations and identifying suitable job roles for veterans. It also provides training, skill development, and career guidance to enhance employability.

Previous events organised by the DGR have successfully placed hundreds of ex-servicemen in various roles, reflecting the effectiveness of this initiative.

    Easy Participation and Registration

Participation in the job fair is generally simple, with provisions for both pre-registration and on-the-spot registration. Candidates are required to carry essential documents such as service records, identity proof, resumes, and educational certificates.

This streamlined process ensures that a large number of veterans can take advantage of the opportunity without procedural hurdles.

The Delhi Cantonment job fair is expected to provide a significant boost to employment opportunities for ex-servicemen. With continued government support and increasing corporate participation, such initiatives are playing a vital role in helping veterans build meaningful second careers after serving the nation.
