Rishikesh: A viral video claiming a young woman died during a bungee jump has caused concern, but authorities in Rishikesh have clarified that no such incident occurred in the city. Officials warned that the video is misleading and originates from Nepal, not Rishikesh.

Misleading Video Goes Viral

The video shows a girl performing a ‘reverse jump’ during bungee jumping, allegedly breaking her neck mid-air. Adventure sports officer Jashpal Chauhan said the video is being falsely shared as an incident in Rishikesh. He emphasized that some people are spreading misinformation to tarnish the city’s reputation.

Safety Protocols in Rishikesh

Pooja Chauhan, from a local bungee jumping company, explained that reverse jumps are not allowed by any Rishikesh adventure operator. She added that strict safety rules are followed:

• Tourists must fill a disclaimer form before any activity.

• Medical conditions are thoroughly checked.

• No person with serious health issues is allowed to participate.

She assured that tourist safety remains the top priority for all adventure sports operators in the city.
